4th of July- Part 2

After the parade we came home to rest up. It was a nice quiet afternoon.  I went to the store to get some food to make for our picnic dinner along the river.  Fried chicken fingers, corn/bean/tomato salad with chips, grapes, banana bread -it was perfect.  Our large groups squeezed ourselves into a sliver of grass with our chairs and blankets. I set up the tripod and captured a few fireworks shots. I learn something about photography every time I use my camera, especially when I am trying something out of the ordinary.  Next year I am going to bring my wider(kit) lens.  I realized that from where we were sitting that a 50mm is just too close. I like to see fireworks within the context of where they are going off. I know, in the sky, but we were right next to the river and the colorful reflection on the water was beautiful.  It was a perfect night, being with friends, eating good food, watching the fireworks boom overhead.  How was your 4th?  Was it exciting, or was it laid back and relaxing?
