Thursday night we packed up the car and headed up north to our annual outing at the Oceanetwork Homeschool Conference. Speakers, books, and fun oh my. If you are a homeschooler and have not attended a conference I highly recommend you give it a try. It is the sole event that motivates me to keep on homeschooling the next year. It reminds me why we chose this method of educating our kids and encourages me that I CAN finish the race set before me. This year was especially neat because three of our close friends graduated their homeschool seniors. To see my friends finish this journey successfully is a blessing and encouragement to me. To know these graduates gives me a glimpse of what is possible in my own children.
Now for the confession part:
1. This is the first year we have taken the children. Jeep and I usually leave them home with grandparents. I missed that time away that we are used to, to regroup, connect and reestablish our goals together.
2. I was concerned with how the kids would do at the conference or selfishly how it would cramp my space...but overall it went well.
3. We only heard a few "I'm bored" comments.
4. The older girls surprised us with how helpful they can be and did a fabulous job serving at the conference.
5. I can't wait to go next year.
6. And in just four short years we will be up on stage like this.
