Birthday Girl

I have an 11 year old today! Where did the time go? Phi was such a wee little thing. Well, she is still small, but much bigger than that fuzzy headed little duckling I brought home from the hospital.

She will be going to the pottery place to paint on Friday to celebrate with a couple of friends. That is what inspired this years birthday cake. I'll be back with more birthday photos.

The new year begins

and so do the challenges.

Did you have a good Christmas? I did. It was filled to the brim with thanksgiving. We had a lovely New Years day as our home was open to friends to watch the Rosebowl. The beloved Ducks (I'm not a football fan, but I am surrounded by fanatics!) played and lost...but we ate, laughed, visited and had a great time.

Then came the news. Our very good friends, with three girls, which happen to be my girls bestest friends may be moving. The dad lost his job a while back and there is just nothing out there. Finally after about 6 months a job offer came in. Unfortunately this job is much too far away. We can't really road trip it there...and flying a family is so costly. I'm just devastated. I'm also praying that this is not the answer to what is next in their lives.

It is very easy to complain and be whiny about all this. I really don't like change and I really really don't like when my comfy little world is disrupted. But in church today we were reminded to cast all our cares upon Him and to pray without ceasing, and to be thankful in all circumstances. So today I chose to do that. Because if I don't I will crumble in a heap.

PS-no pictures for a while. My computer is in the shop getting its CD drive fixed.

EDIT: They are not moving!!!!! Yippeeeeeee! Because I just can't go visit Oklahoma, even if Pioneer Woman does live there. It's those tornados that hold me back!
