Today we went to our weekly vision therapy appointment. We've been doing this for 5 months so far and have two more to go. Vision Therapy is an undertaking that is huge and exhausting. Not in that you do it all day kind of exhausting, as it is only 30 minutes a day. Every. Single. Day. For. 7 Months. The weight on my shoulders has been heavy. We've spent a lot of money on it, and the success of our child's education and self esteem just may depend on the success of the therapy. I know it sounds dramatic but it really isn't. She is getting older, and her friends younger than her are passing her up. She knows this and she feels it and it breaks my heart. This little girl is the sweetest most joyful child, and she is extremely smart and funny, yet she doesn't realize this.OK, now to why this title and this picture. A few days ago, Bobo decided she wanted to read her bible. So she picked up her bible and started in Genesis and she was trying to read the tiniest print ever, which is not good for her eyes right now. So I decided to hunt down the Beginners Bible I have and give it to her. She is very motivated to read from her 'new' bible.
After her appointment today I was feeling discouraged. I know her new exercises for this week is going to be hard for her and she isn't going to like doing them. I was projecting the battle over getting her therapy done. Not only that, I have to do some attitude adjustments in myself to help her get through her therapy.
This evening her sister was helping her read her bible. The sweetness in hearing big sister assist and teach her to read was like a little gift from God. It was just what I needed to spur me on to the finish line.
